Post Civil War at the end of the 1800’s, came a new era. During the twentieth century, the lives of many African Americans changed. Some for the better and some for worse. This was the time, African Americans were able to progress as individuals and freely. This era was the time for black progression and succession to happen. It was a time of radical transformation in the political and legal status of African Americans. This was also the time where The Great Migration caused a change in the Northern cities, thus creating change in order to embrace African Americans and their culture. Through the Great Migration, it led to the start and foundation of the New Negro Movement.
